A Ware County Sheriff’s Department detention officer who has worked in the jail for the past two and a half years was arrested Monday for sexual advances he made toward a male jail inmate.
Javier Moreno, 25, was arrested and fired Monday on charges of sexual assault against a person in custody and making false statements and writings.
A criminal investigation was opened leading to the charges against Moreno.
Moreno was booked into the Ware County jail Monday morning on a felony warrant.
Moreno was allowed to post bond Monday night.
The officer underwent employee evaluation on March 22, 2011, and has been employed at the jail since that time and as a certified basic jail officer.
