Blackshear officers find injured baby at motel after dispute

Blackshear police say officers responding to an alleged domestic dispute at a motel Friday found a 3-month-old boy with numerous injuries, including a fractured skull.

Lawmen arrived at the Oak Plaza Motel around 7:30 p.m. to investigate an incident involving Brandon Eugene Knowles, 32, of Blackshear and his live-in girlfriend, says Police Chief Chris Wright. Police arrested Knowles for family violence battery.

Pierce County EMS was summoned to the room to check on the baby, who had a visible knot on his head, Wright says. The child was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross and later transferred to a Savannah medical center.
