Landmark Jesup home lost in Monday morning blaze

A landmark home on Oglethorpe Road was gutted by fire Monday despite the efforts of firefighters from Wayne and Long counties.

The home of the late Dr. Woodrow Yeomans was destroyed by a fire that was first reported to 911 at 9:44 a.m. When firefighters from the Madray Springs Volunteer Fire Department arrived first on the scene, it was evident that the blaze had been under way for a while, according to firefighter Ashley Dent.
