Farragut Fest beams down to Kingsland Dec. 7 with open house

Journey to the future Star Trek-style as Farragut Films hosts Farragut Fest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Dec. 7 at its 10,000-sq.ft. film production studio at 516 W. William Ave. in Kingsland, the largest display of freestanding “Star Trek” sets in the U.S.

The open house includes the detailed sets built by fans to duplicate the interior of the USS Farragut, a sister ship to the Capt. Kirk-era Enterprise from the classic Star Trek series of the 1960s. Used to film episodes of the “Starship Farragut” and “Star Trek Continues” internet series as well as upcoming episodes of “Dreadnought Dominion” and “ExeterTrek,” the sets include the bridge, transporter room, briefing room, sickbay, captain’s and guest quarters, Romulan bridge, shuttlecraft and an extensive corridor system.

Cast members will be on site at Farragut Fest, along with artists Kim Lockman and Kail Tescar and author Bobby Nash. Dealers will be on site with sci-fi items for sale, and an auction is set for 2 p.m.
