A Miami man was arrested Wednesday after sheriff’s deputies found 6.5 pounds of cocaine concealed inside laundry detergent boxes in the car he was driving on Interstate 95, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies stopped a southbound Ford Focus five miles north of the state line after its driver failed to maintain a proper lane, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The vehicle was rented but the person named on the rental agreement was not in the car. When questioned, the driver and his passenger gave differing accounts of where they had been, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and found two detergent boxes that appeared to have been opened and resealed.
Inside the two detergent boxes, deputies found brown packages that were each wrapped inside three plastic bags and aluminum foil with yellow mustard between two of the plastic bags.
