Bill to require drug test for food stamps clears committee

Some Georgia residents applying for food stamps and welfare benefits would have to pass a drug test under a House bill that cleared a committee on Monday, reports Georgia Health News.

Under House Bill 772, which the House Judiciary Committee approved with a 7-6 vote, says people applying for the government assistance would be subjected to testing if they raised “reasonable suspicion” of illegal drug use, GHN reports.
